09-11-2001: Never forget

It has been four years since that tragic day that shook the world. Four years since Americans learned that their home is just as vulnerable as anywhere else in the world. I will never forget. Today's post is dedicated to those who lost their lives that day and their families and friends. No jokes, no weather updates, no personal agenda. Take this as a moment of silence.

That is all.

You gotta think outside the box

So my professor posted this problem in our class today that I spent a good amount of time with trying to figure out. It's that connect all nine dots with four lines without picking up your pen problem. I spent a huge amount of time trying to figure it out. I showed it to Casey and he's like "here you go" and freaking figures it out in 5 seconds. That rat bastard!

Work's been pretty slow today. I found out today that they didn't approve my application for the associate manager job. I guess they want someone with more call center experience. Whatever. I didn't want to be a manager any damn way.

New training class starts on Monday. Supposedly there's six people in the class, which means that those of us on second shift have the possibility to move to days. All of us. I might consider that. We shall see.

Plans for this weekend are to clean the house, write my paper, go to a tailor shop to get measurements for my shirt for Tauna's wedding, go to that union organizing meeting, and go grocery shopping. Oh, and go to church, maybe go to the midnight movie (it's Office Space, yo!), and watch Garden State at some point.

That's about all I've got for now. How exciting, eh? Until next time, ever onward!

Book meme

Go to your bookshelves. Choose any shelf you want, and name the first ten books on that shelf. Do not rearrange, simply list them as they are right now.

1. Valley of the Sun tourist guide
2. Mensa All-Color Puzzle Book 2 comppiled by Robert Allen
3. The Dell Book of Logic Problems #5 compiled by Erica L. Rothstein
4. Guide Gallimard for Québec
5. My First Time edited by Jack Hart
6. Cock Tales by Bob Vickery
7. The Unofficial Gay Manual by Kevin Dilallo & Jack Krumholtz
8. The Lexus and the Olive Tree by Thomas L. Friedman
9. The Bad Girl's Guide to the Open Road by Cameron Tuttle
10. TV Guide: Aug. 31 - Sept. 6, 2002

Hmm, mind-stimulating material, followed by porn, and then just random stuff. Very interesting.

Interest meme

Look at your LJ "interests" list. If you have less than 50 interests, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five interests, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much.

Here's mine )

Well well well

I couldn't think of a subject line so that's what you get.

I was extremely productive this morning. I got up a little earlier because I had to take Minou to the vet to get her first distemper shot. We were in and out in 10 minutes. It was fabulous. Then I came home and read the last chapter for this week's reading for class and wrote responses to the 3 DQs due today. I totally BSed the last question, but I'm sure that it is probably the best response of the three. We'll see how my classmates respond.

Weather was kind of fickle today. We were under a severe thunderstorm watch but nothing ever came of it. We did have a good storm roll through so that was nice.

I have no open claims. *knock on wood* Though my crazy New York claim is haunting me again. I'll call the guy tomorrow and tell him no, what I offered him is final, and that comes from Bonnie.

So new CSRs are starting training on Monday. Which means that shift bid is right around the corner. But I doubt I'm going to move. Because what I've heard is that you have to ask to be put on days and everyone else has already and I really don't care what my shift is so if I stay on 12 to 9, oh well. Besides, one of the new CSRs speaks my language and I have a feeling kinda likes me. We'll see about that though.

So other than that, nothing really, as always. Plan for tonight is to go home, check my classroom responses and probably post a couple responses of my own in order to take care of that participation requirement, then veg out to after the news sitcoms, like I do every night. God, my life is too freakin' predictable.

Until next time, ever onward!!

Severe Thunderstorm Watch #775

I heard from Chris!!

He's in New Orleans and he says it stinks to high heaven there (understandably). He seems to be doing well and he says he hasn't run into too much trouble. We talked for a little while and it was really good to hear from him. He said that at this point he is scheduled to return home on September 30, which is right after my arrival in ATL. So maybe I won't be by myself too long, eh?

Nothing else really going on today. I haven't touched the DQs for class. I gotta finish all the reading first. So I think tomorrow is going to be a big participation day after I read the final chapter for the week and post all three DQs (they're due tomorrow).

Minou did NOT like the sirens this morning. She didn't have a problem with the big voice, but when the siren behind the Hiawatha City Hall started going off, she'd had enough. It was too cute. Chris and Aileen came over earlier to play with her. I think she's successfully worn out and she'll sleep all night (yay!). Tomorrow morning she's going back to the vet for her first distemper shot.

That's about all I've got for now. I think it's time for Friends and Will and Grace and dozing on the couch. Whoo!

Garden State arrived via NetFlix today. Sweet!

Until next time, ever onward!

Okay...

So yeah, not much going on today. Work, week 4 of class began, and more fun with the cat. That's about it.

I am trying to see how much it is going to cost to fly to Phoenix for Christmas. Looks like an arm and a leg. I thought maybe I could score a deal on that new Allegiant Air, fly to Vegas, and then pick up a Southwest flight to Phoenix, but no, Allegiant Air's trip alone would cost over $300. So it looks like a road trip to Chicago and then I'll fly Southwest. It's still gonna be close to $300, but it's better than what they'll all try to charge me if I fly out of CR.

That's about all I can think of to write today. Like I said, not too exciting today. It's never too exciting. Anyways, I'm going to try to finish up some reading for class and then maybe I can bust out one of the DQs due on Thursday. w00t!

Until next time, ever onward!

Sep. 5th, 2005

This has been the most boring weekend ever!

I just signed up for NetFlix. Who wants to be my friend?

Here's a quote from a good friend of mine, [info]jonny_darko. This quote is too fabulous to pass up. He used it in response to the religious right blaming the damage from Hurricane Katrina on the "homosexual agenda" (à la Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell in the wake of 09-11): "Is there something about two dudes doing the nasty that makes the earth vibrate at the wrong frequency?"

I'm done!

My first of two fuckity ass fuck fuck papers is done. Whoo! Paper number two is due in three weeks.
